Ticket to Ride Halloween: Issues Faced

Issues Faced

This was my first time cataloging a board game, and it was interesting to see how it was similar and different from cataloging a book. One of the most interesting issues when it came to cataloging this game was deciding how to list it in a few different fields in both RDA and MARC since this was an expansion pack to the Ticket to Ride game, and not the actual game itself. I did a search for this particular expansion pack through WorldCat, but could not find it at any of the libraries listed, or through some other searches I did, so I ended up using a record I found for another Ticket to Ride expansion kit that showed the MARC record as a guide for some of the different MARC fields I would need to use. For instance, where should I put how many players the game is designed for and playing time, which both ended up on the 500 General Note field. The RDA cataloging for this item proved to be more straightforward than MARC. I was able to find a couple of fields I needed by using the search feature within the RDA toolkit under “board games” which proved helpful in finding other fields I would need to use for creating this record.
